• Bruce Ansell

SME Interworking - UK Home Office ESN Program

I'm Bruce, a technically minded professional with a proven track record as a leader and driving force of required outcomes. During my career I've gained extensive experience in systems engineering roles, including within corporate, government and military settings. I have axcellent knowledge of core and radio access networks, sub-systems and subscribers across GSM, TETRA, HF, UHF, WLAN and satellite.

Since 2016, I've been Technical Architect for a £multi-million emergency services communications project for the UK Home Office. I am responsible for ownership and construction of the technical architecture of interworking, DNSP and control rooms. Additionally, I operate as technical authority for the related £multi-million interworking project which is key to the transition from the legacy narrowband network to broadband services.

Ensuring that systems meet stakeholder requirements and are technically compliant is a primary focus.

Previously I was accountable for the planning and implementation of core and radio access networks, sub-systems and subscribers across 3g/4g, TETRA, HF, UHF, WLAN and SATCOM for Exelis Defence Ltd. Operating as Lead Engineer, I led the team in delivering work of the highest standards with time, cost and quality targets achieved. My ability to take a commercial target or idea and produce a technical solution or design to match has been central to my success.
To allow everyone to deliver their best, I lead from the front and foster an inclusive culture. Driven and resilient, I thrive in a mission critical space with frequent change, challenges and complexity. My communication skills (written and verbal) are excellent. I particularly excel as business to tech interface and I have strength in communicating technical issues to non-technical audiences. Highly versatile, I rapidly assimilate to new teams, working environments and practices.
